Exterior/Interior Penetrant Fire Retardant For Raw Wood
FX Lumber Guard/FX LumberGuard XT is a penetrating fire retardant treatment for wood.
FX LumberGuard XT has all the benefits of FX LumberGuard with additional polymers for exterior use or interior use fire retardant penetrant for the exterior treatment of lumber, plywood and all types of wood species and products like cedar, redwood, oak and pine, decking, wood siding, fencing, shake shingles, patio covers, wood bridges, wood skirting, reclaimed lumber, garden sheds, landscape beds, lawn furniture, attics, under patio covers, crawl spaces, garage walls, grilling areas and other projects
FX LumberGuard/FX LumberGuard XT prevents treated materials from sustaining combustion by penetrating the material and becoming part of its molecular structure, a protective barrier is created to protect the treated material from igniting. Once the treated material is subjected to an extreme heat source (flames, sparks or embers) the protective intumescent (charring) barrier is activated, the intumescent barrier (charring) prevents combustion of the treated material. FRCT's fire retardant coatings meets the standards of ASTM, NFPA, ULC, UL and UBC and was tested by independent nationally-recognized accredited third party labs in Canada and the United States.

The fire retardancy of the treated wood, lumber, OSB, plywood, LVL, CLT and other wood products/materials will last indefinitely if protected from wet locations and high humidity.

FX LumberGuard/FX LumberGuard XT is accepted and/or approved by municipalities, provinces, fire marshals, building officials and other inspectors have endorsed our fire retardant coatings for meeting certain building codes and fire safety codes. Our fire retardants are being used by Government projects, commercial projects, and residential projects all across Canada and the United States.
Species like White Wood, SPF, Pine and Doug Fir are not rot resistant If you are using one these species that starts to rot or decay, retreating or maintenance of fire retardant will have to be done. Power washing or cleaning the material is required before retreating. A wood sealer or paint of some type should be used to protect the wood from rotting, we recommend using a non wax based wood sealer, waterproofing sealer, stain sealer or paint.
Natural rot resistant species of wood are cedar, redwood and oak these species should not require a sealer or top coat unless there is heavy traffic on the material (decking or porch).
FX LumberGuard XT can be used on preservative treated wood, can be painted, stained or clear coated over with a compatible product. NOTE: Always test for compatibility prior to application of products.
